Global Warming

Harper and Bush’s little plan to ruin the planet.

December 7, 2007

As a follow-on to my previous post on our little Canadian Dictator and his position on Global Warming, here’s a very nice little explanation of what is really going on, courtesy of DeSmogBlog. If you owned a distillery, you would probably not be in favour of prohibition. So it is little wonder why Harper is opposed to binding emission targets at the UN climate negotiations in Bali. Harper’s adopted province of Alberta is home...

Harper must be removed from power, fast.

December 6, 2007

I am appalled by our Prime Minister’s behaviour on the environment. Clearly, he is driven purely by the money boom in his own Province of Alberta where the race to exploit the oil sands faster is causing billions of dollars to flow into the province. But oil sands processing is causing an environmental disaster of unprecedented proportions, destroying millions of acres of land, drying up rivers, and poisoning the aquifer while generating a huge...

The Night Shift

November 30, 2007

Here’s an excellent article by Keith Farnish of The Earth Blog. In this blog entry he discusses how moving some of your electricity consumption to the wee hours of the night can greatly reduce the overall electricity production capacity that needs to be constantly “on-line”. Well worth reading here.

IPCC panel gives dire warming forecast

November 18, 2007

By ARTHUR MAX, Associated Press Writer Sat Nov 17, 4:01 PM ET VALENCIA, Spain – The Earth is hurtling toward a warmer climate at a quickening pace, a Nobel-winning U.N. scientific panel said in a landmark report released Saturday, warning of inevitable human suffering and the threat of extinction for some species. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said climate change imperils “the most precious treasures of our planet” and called on the United States and...

Hillary Clinton’s climate and energy plan

November 13, 2007

Finally, a US Presidential candidate takes a strong stance on Climate Change and realizes the potential it presents to create jobs and bring her country out of a gigantic slump. I hope she gets rewarded for it, and that she will deliver the goods. Read the full article…

The White House is muzzling science again

October 24, 2007

Once again, the White House has censored a scientific report that discusses the possibility of diseases becoming a problem under a warmer climate. As many as 6 pages were removed from the report. It is really upsetting to see a bunch of religious freaks and industry puppets constantly muzzling scientists to suit their political agenda.

Convenient Untruths

October 16, 2007

You may have heard that recently someone in the UK challenged a school district in court to try and block them from showing Al Gore’s Oscar winning documentary to the students. This court challenge was based on a set of 9 alleged “errors” in the movie. Well, first of all, it turns out that (unsurprisingly), this court challenge was funded by fossil-fuel industry money. And then the court actually endorsed the movie. And now...

Al Gore and the IPCC win the Nobel Peace Prize.

(source) In another sign that this year is going to be the year of global warming awareness, Al Gore and the IPCC are sharing the 1.5 million dollar Nobel Peace Prize this year. Gore said he was “deeply honored,” adding that “the climate crisis is not a political issue it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity,” according to a written statement. Gore plans on donating his half of the money...

Greenland Glaciers Melting at Record Rate

September 11, 2007

The Greenland ice sheet is melting so fast, that the giant kilometer long chunks of ice that are breaking off are actually causing earthquakes. People monitoring this situation say that the rate at which the ice is pouring water and ice into the ocean is much faster than the IPCC’s very conservative reports. It is becoming more and more apparent that the IPCC was hobbled in it’s (still dire) predictions by political considerations. Some...

Fred Thompson on Science and Global Warming

Fred Thompson on Science and Global Warming

I thought that recently announced Republican Presidential Candidate and Law & Order actor Fred Thompson looked like a smart and reasonable guy, but then I read the transcript of his interview with Paul Harvey: Some people think that our planet is suffering from a fever. Now scientists are telling us that Mars is experiencing its own planetary warming: Martian warming. It seems scientists have noticed recently that quite a few planets in our solar...
