Former White House official doctored global-warming reports to undercut scientific findings

March 20, 2007

From DeSmogBlog: Philip Cooney, former chief of staff at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, has acknowledged at a House hearing some of the changes he made were “to align these communications with the administration’s stated policy” on climate change. Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., chairman of the House Government Reform Committee, said “my concern is that there was a concerted White House effort to inject uncertainty into the climate debate.” Waxman’s committee also...

The Pacific Northwest Snowpack “Controversy”

March 20, 2007

Here’s a great article that dissects the “controversy” which the media latched on regarding the amount of snowpack decline in the Cascades. This addresses the issues brought up by one of my readers in this comment where he insinuates that this little media boondoggle casts doubts over the validity of climate change science or the reality of the scientific concensus.

Please Stop Talking About the Global Warming Consensus

March 16, 2007

Cizik has been very vocal in encouraging evangelicals to get more actively involved in the fight against global warming, and that is upsetting the more hypocritical factions of the Christian Right. What is their excuse for trying to...

March 3, 2007

From U.S. Predicting Steady Increase for Emissions. “The Bush administration estimates that emissions by the United States of gases that contribute to global warming will grow nearly as fast through the next decade as they did the previous decade, according to a long-delayed report being completed for the United Nations. The document, the United States Climate Action Report, emphasizes that the projections show progress toward a goal Mr. Bush laid out in a 2002...

March 1, 2007

Thursday March 1, 3:03 AM ET WASHINGTON – As the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases, the United States has come under heavy criticism, including from people who live almost on top of the world. The Inuits of Northern Canada and beyond are taking their case against the United States on Thursday to an international human rights commission. They have scant chance of a breakthrough but still hope to score moral and political points...
