Reports of ExxonMobil’s Reform Prove Premature

Well it looks like ExxonMobil’s CEO is still clinging on the little percentage of doubt that remains as to how climate chage will play out in order to continue his policy of denial. This is sad, and shows a lot of shortsightedness. I guess he doesn’t want his stock price to to go down just before he cashes in for his retirement. This is one of the problems with publc companies being managed quarter by quarter with one main criteria in mind: stock price. Few American companies exhibit long term vision.

Global warming will force all of humanity into some pretty significant changes, an energy revolution of sorts. History shows that every time such a change occurs, there is tremendous oportunity for those who have the vision to act on it, and plenty of gloom for those who just put their head in the sand. Europe will benefit greatly from this change because they have adopted a proactive stance they are reducing their dependence in fossil fuels and they are investing a lot into green technologies. America will likely be a big loser because of its do-nothing attitude, and because of its heavier dependence on fossil fuels.
